The simple joy of being close to water, swimming, "bubbling" or sunbathing, brings a revitalizing well-being. Oisans, in complete tranquility at the water's edge is...
Many swimming pools, lakes or bodies of water, but also river banks, torrents or waterfalls scattered throughout the territory. Where can you find this simple happiness in Oisans?
In the list below you will find the pools, nautical bases, swimming lessons and other aerobics.
The many public swimming pools
- 5 indoor swimming pools (open summer and winter): Livet-et-Gavet, Vaujany, Auris, Alpe d'Huez, and Les 2 Alpes (x2).
- 6 discoveries (summer only): Allemond, Bourg-d'Oisans, Alpe d'Huez, Les 2 Alpes and Venosc.
Not to mention the many private swimming pools in campsites, hotels or residences!
At the edge of the lakes
Not to mention a clear ban, Swimming in mountain lakes is strongly discouraged. for obvious reasons of pollution and "tranquility" of aquatic environments. So a foot dip is enough!
Rivers, torrents, waterfalls are also good excuses for a walk by the water when it's really hot...
- The only lake where swimming is permitted is La Buissonnière in Les 2 Alpes: At the entrance to the resort you will find a lovely (artificial) leisure lake with children's games and a pétanque ground.
- High altitude lakes call for a picnic or relaxation, the proximity of the water is enough to cool off under the beautiful summer sun.
- The Verney nautical base offers many water activities: paddle, pedal boat, windsurfing, canoeing... Even if swimming is prohibited (since it is the water reservoir of a dam), you can spend a very refreshing day on the water.
- The Chambon nautical base, on the banks of the reservoir of the dam of the same name, is bucolically called "the cabin by the lake". So swimming is also prohibited but that does not prevent water activities, paddle, canoe/kayak, pedal boat, but also: yoga, badminton, pétanque and slackline. And all in a setting of water and greenery that emphasizes relaxation and gentleness.
