Conférence La vulnérabilité des sols alpins face au réchauffement climatique
14July2025
Discover the unjustly unknown soils, to understand the roles they play as well as the threats they face with Nicolas Bonfanti, a doctoral student in alpine ecology, from the EDYTEM and CARRTEL laboratories.
Marc André Sélosse, a great French biologist, speaks of soil as "the origin of the world." Soil plays a fundamental role in alpine ecosystems. In an era of global change, despite being at the heart of major environmental and societal issues (carbon storage, regulation of the water cycle, plant nutrition), soils are seeing their functions become both vulnerable and threatened. Rising temperatures, which are even more pronounced in mountain ecosystems, are changing not only the duration of snow cover but also all the seasonal cycles it conditioned. We therefore invite you to explore soils, unjustly overlooked, to understand the roles they play for human and non-human societies as well as the threats they face.
Nicolas Bonfanti, a doctoral student in alpine ecology at the Université Savoie Mont Blanc in the EDYTEM and CARRTEL laboratories, is also a mountain guide and a passionate botanist. He enjoys sharing his research on the impact of global warming on the biogeochemical cycles of carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus in alpine ecosystems. Nicolas Bonfanti has been working at the Lautaret garden since the beginning of his thesis and uses our cryotron to carry out his research.
