Exposition " Chambon – Dans l'ombre d'un géant "

19July26July2025
Mizoën
The Freneytique association is offering an exhibition retracing the history of the construction of the Chambon dam, through numerous period photos.
The Chambon Dam was conceived in 1918 by Dauphiné industrialist Henri Fredet. From the very beginning, he found strong support and backing from the influential Charles-Albert Keller.
Its construction was carried out between 1928 and 1935 by the Campenon-Bernard Company under the general direction of P. Simon and the technical direction of A. Haegelen, both chief engineers of the Bridges and Roads Department.
The construction of this cyclopean concrete giant was extraordinary in every way for its time, both in its technicality and in the energy required to raise it from the ground, at the cost of numerous sacrifices.
In this exhibition, enriched with numerous photos, original documents and testimonies, the Freneytique association retraces the history of this large Oisans dam.

This event is offered as part of the White Coal Centenary.
