A century after philosopher Henry David Thoreau and his cabin on the shores of Walden Pond, a man named Richard "Dick" Proenneke turned his back on modernity and left civilization with the wild dream of returning to the wilderness.
In 1968, he moved to the Dena'ina people's homeland in Alaska and built a cabin with his own hands, where he lived alone for 30 years, with the animals as his only neighbors. His stories and philosophy are one of the most beautiful testaments to wildlife and the defense of nature.
Twenty years after his death, explorer Eliott Schonfeld follows in his footsteps. Through mountains, lakes, and forests, the adventurer goes where no road leads to find his mentor's cabin and understand the life of this man who was at one with the rest of the living.
