CGO – Centre de Géologie de l'Oisans
The missions of the Oisans Geology Center, an association since 1988, are the inventory, study, protection, promotion and teaching of the history and wealth of the geological, landscape and natural heritage of Oisans.
The missions of the association are:
* the inventory, study, protection, enhancement and teaching of the history and wealth of the geological, landscape and natural heritage of Oisans,
* inventory, study and promotion of geological and natural heritage. Promotion in all its forms: books, websites and digital applications, furniture and interpretation trails, etc.
* the organization and support of field trips (day and internship) in Earth Sciences (geology, tectonics, glaciology, climatology, geomorphology, pedology, volcanology, etc.) for school groups and university courses.
teaching and training in Earth Sciences in all its forms (courses, practical work, conferences, online courses, field trips and internships, etc.).
* act as an interface between the world of research in Earth and Climate Sciences and different audiences, to structure and organize the dissemination of the results of academic research. Strengthen the science-citizen link.
* support and organization of excursions, training courses, festivals and scientific-themed trips.
* Participation in scientific research: scientific expertise for the study of sites, field sampling, co-supervision of internships in collaboration with higher education structures, publication of scientific articles and production of communications at scientific conferences,
The activities of the CGO are independent of any political, economic, religious or ideological organization. The CGO strives for the objectivity of scientific knowledge and respects the diversity of personal opinions and convictions.
