Prêt d'une Joëlette
A Joëlette, a single-wheel all-terrain wheelchair that allows anyone with reduced mobility, child or adult, to go hiking, is available free of charge to anyone who requests it at the Tourist Information Office in La Grave.
The invention of the Joëlette comes from a mountain guide, Joël Claudel, who wanted to be able to continue taking Stéphane, his myopathic nephew, on walks. This transport device has only one wheel, which allows him to slip through even the narrowest paths. The seat, to be adapted according to the disability, is placed above the wheel. Stretchers at the front and rear allow the machine to be rolled and carried if necessary. There is suspension, a system for adjusting the height of the stretchers depending on the slope and a brake complete the equipment.
