Terra Rêve – Sculpteur affiliée à la Maison des artistes
Marie-Claude GALLARD, known as Marieke, is a sculptor at Villard Notre Dame. After 30 years of painting, this artist, in the Singular Art movement, creates works that bear the imprint of Oisans and its history.
Since her permanent installation at Villard Notre Dame, she has also worked on the creation of a series of “high reliefs” and “bogeymen” inspired by the legendary stories of Oisans.
His favorite materials: earth, wood, stone, bone, plaster…
How did my passion for sculpture begin?
“Sculpture is the oldest language of humanity. It is present in 3 dimensions and a more direct path than painting which has fascinated me for more than 30 years. Sculpture is a continuation of my childhood concerns and joys. A solitary childhood spent in the mountain pastures, scree and forests of Oisans.
My move to Villard Notre Dame, a village that fascinated me since childhood, is above all an artistic choice. It is the desire to live in a place that corresponds, a refuge and an immersion as close as possible to the mountains, the rocks and a preserved nature.”
My sources of inspiration?
“Sources of inspiration, sources of the world, sources of life... Each natural form is strong in its material of what it was (history of the seasons and the centuries, of the obstacles encountered (water, wind...) to become what it was she is. They are enigmas and the stuff of dreams. They are leaven when I am in the workshop.
These sculptures are constructions inspired by these materials.
They are accompanied by “Les Fayets” (imaginary characters from Oisans), “reliefs” (transcription of legendary stories from Oisans) and “high reliefs”, memory of stones and messengers of time.
