Au fil de la Rive (Circuit n°2)
La Rive is the watercourse with particular characteristics which crosses Bourg-d'Oisans: clear and very calm waters, a cool temperature all year round (approximately 8°), very little variation in flow and its biological richness is exceptional.
This 17 km circuit can be done by car but it is perfect for a family hike on the flat (for once!).
Discover a remarkable natural heritage by following the Sentier du Castor.
From the village centre, follow the “Castor” signs and walk to the sources of the Rive. You can continue a little and you will reach the Pisse waterfall, a secret and melancholic haven of peace nestled in the heart of the forest…
Another original idea for exploring the Rive: canoeing. Coming from a natural resurgence, the Rive is always absolutely serene! You will only have one thing to do: let yourself glide along the water to the stadium, at the entrance to Bourg-d'Oisans… An original and refreshing trip for the whole family!
To complete your walk, take your car again and leave Bourg-d'Oisans towards Alpe d'Huez. After Camping la Cascade, cross the bridge and turn left opposite the EDF buildings just before the climb to the resort (place called La Ferrière). Take the direction of Essoulieux.
In this hamlet, a visit to the horse farm is a must! You can discover the Mérens breeding farm and take a horseback ride or a carriage ride (by appointment). The farm is located at the entrance to the hamlet on the left.
Then continue on your way and cross the hamlet of Bassey. At the exit of the hamlet, turn left then immediately right to follow the tarmac road to the bridge. Cross the Romanche and follow the road to
the RD 1091. Turn left and before reaching Bourg-d'Oisans stop to visit the Brasserie Goodwin (on the right after the Total station, then on the left behind the restaurant Chez Nannie).
Originally from England, Chris, nostalgic for the very typical characteristics of
beers from his island set up his own micro-brewery at the end of 2015 to produce an English beer “made in Oisans”.
Then join Bourg-d'Oisans via the RD 1091.
