Balade autour des hameaux de Villar d'Arène
In the commune of Villar d'Arène, on the edge of the Ecrins National Park, you will discover a trail dedicated to all in a preserved and magnificent environment, with the sound of the Romanche nearby and under the watchful eye of wild animals.
This loop starting from the village, offers you a tour of the hamlets of Villar d'Arène. Come and discover what these hamlets have to teach you about the local heritage and traditions.
Along the alleys of our hamlets, you will discover chapels and typical houses: take the time to visit.
The departure is from the car park at the bottom of the village.
Head towards the Saint Martin church on the village square, which you will have to cross to head towards the rue de la forge, be careful it is quite steep at the start. Halfway along you will turn right to enter the top of the village and continue for about 200m to head towards the path (cross-country skiing departure point in winter) which will be available to you just opposite.
From this point on you will alternate between dirt roads and sections of road.
150m further you join the road towards the hamlet of Arsine for around 1km, once you arrive at the large car park you will have to turn left to go into the hamlet and continue through the next hamlet: Le Pied du Col until you reach the large fountain.
Then turn right to go up towards the fields and continue along the farm track, keeping to your left. At the end of the track you will reach the departmental road which you will have to cross to take the path opposite which crosses a field and arrives at another farm track. Turn left to reach the hamlet of Cours which you will have to cross by its main street, along which you will discover 2 typical fountains and the small Sainte-Anne chapel.
Continue towards the large Saint-Antoine chapel which overlooks the village of Villar d'Arène. Then go down towards the crossroads and their recognizable cross and then continue downhill to the departmental road and reach the starting car park by going down Rue de la Forge which will be much easier to do than at the start on the way up.
This walk can also be done in the opposite direction without any problem.
