ITINERARY:
From the Bourg-d'Oisans tourist office, follow the road towards Alpe d'Huez. After the bridge over the Romanche and just before the roundabout, take the pedestrian crossing on your left. It will take you to the Alpe d'Huez road, avoiding crossing the roundabout.
Follow the road, and when you reach the “A la rencontre du Soleil” campsite, turn left towards Bassey/les Essoulieux.
Walk along this small country road that runs alongside the forest and crosses fields and meadows before arriving at the hamlet of Essoulieux. Keep your eyes peeled: deer, foxes, squirrels are often visible here and on the grassy slopes of the cliffs, you might be able to see chamois (with binoculars).
Then continue on the road towards the hamlet of Bassey and its chapel, until the crossroads. Before turning left to follow the road, take the time to look at the bread oven which is opposite on your right.
You then take a small bridge which spans the “Sarenne”, then follow the road which first runs alongside fields, then the Romanche on your left.
Cross the Romanche by taking the bridge on your left, then turn immediately left to walk on the dike, which is on the left bank of the river.
Walk on this Green Way - shared space for pedestrians, bikes, horses - which runs along the forest to the bridge. Then go under the road via the underpass, follow the Green Way. You arrive at an intersection: continue straight on via the stadium road which takes you back to the dike, then once you reach the road, turn right onto the Aristide Briand road towards the town centre of Bourg d'Oisans. This will take you back to your starting point.

The path takes the embankment on the left bank of the Romanche on the way back from the place called “3 ponts”, so called because it is a very small place, linking 3 bridges successively spanning three different rivers (the Rive, the Romanche and the Sarenne)
