Moors, peat bogs and rocky environments of the Taillefer Massif have led to the award of the Natura 2000 label. Remarkable for its biological richness, the site is home to 28 "habitats" of community interest, 5 of which are priorities for their conservation.
The Taillefer massif: a remarkable, fragile… and protected site!
The Taillefer Natura 2000 site is an exceptional natural area, which nevertheless remains particularly fragile and vulnerable. As a result, specific regulations apply there.
Swimming and camping prohibited
Bivouac prohibited except in bivouac areas reserved for this purpose, and only from 19 p.m. to 9 a.m.

A pretty loop with varied landscapes (mountain pastures, plateau and forest) to access the Taillefer Refuge and admire the different lakes on the plateau (Lac Noir, Lac Fourchu, etc.).

ITINERARY :
After parking in the Terres Froides car park just above the hamlet of La Grenonière (in the commune ofOrnon), follow the GR which starts on a track until Airette (approximately 700m distance).

Then take the direction of the Refuge du Taillefer (OBP629). The path climbs steeply through L'Alpage to La Buffe. At this point, follow the direction of the Refuge du Taillefer again.

The path continues through the mountain pasture and will pass through a small rocky passage before arriving at the Taillefer Refuge.

Then take the direction of Lac Fourchu (on the Plateau des Lacs, OBP 631). You will cross the Plateau des Lacs via Lac Noir to arrive at Lac Fourchu.

From Lac Fourchu, turn around and retrace your steps to La Jasse, and begin the descent towards Basse Montagne (OBP 640).

The descent is steep and stony until Basse montagne where you will then follow the direction of Airette. The path then passes through the forest.

At Airette, head towards the Terres Froides car park to return to the car.
