ROUTE
> Start from the Desgranges stele and go around a ruined house below.
The path starts just behind it. Cross the road to take the “Chemin du Galibier” on the other side. Go down the bends on this quiet path to the road to the Col du Lautaret (D1091).
> Cross the road, take the path opposite to reach the Lautaret pass (2 km).
> At the pass, cross the road, go past the bar/restaurant “la Ferme” to take the GR 50. From there, the path is marked (FFC n°13).
> The path winds through high-altitude peat bogs in the middle of the mountain pasture. After 2,5 km, you will find the road to the Col du Lautaret (D1091). Cross over and take the path opposite that goes down to the hamlet of Pied du Col.
> At the foot of the pass, turn right onto the road, go 150 m then right again on a path which will take you to Villar d'Arène.
