Alpe d'Huez

Du côté de l'Alpe d'Huez (Circuit n°7)

Taking the “Alpe” route is already immersing yourself in the world of Alpe d’Huez. This resort, known in winter for the longest ski slope in the world (the Sarenne and its 16 km), is dedicated to cycling and the mountains in summer.
Departing from Bourg d'Oisans, this circuit is approximately 34 km round trip.

Just 21 bends from Bourg-d'Oisans, Alpe d'Huez offers you a
dream plateau, its mountain lakes and its incredible horizon of tangled peaks. You will reach it by the legendary ↘“montée de l’Alpe”, the one that thrills the hearts of cyclists from all over the world. Each turn is dedicated to a winner of the Tour stage, so you can improve your sporting culture.

You arrive in the resort via the old Alpe which recalls the beginning of the century when this international resort was limited to a few alpine barns.
Above the tourist office you will find the ↘Alpe d'Huez Chantournage workshop, where Philippe creates unique pieces in raw wood. His collection is varied: wall or table decorations, paintings, signs, trophies…

You will cross the resort to discover its lively streets and ↘its museum (located in the Palais des Sports) which presents the history of the resort and the mountain through various exhibitions.

Then, at the end of the road, sits ↘Lac Besson, a paradise for trout, char… and fishermen. So why not plan a picnic by the water?

Then take to the heights and don't miss out on the fabulous panorama that awaits you from the terrace of the ↘cable car Pic Blanc at 3 m. Access to this superb belvedere can be reached in less than 330 minutes for a view rated three stars by the Michelin guide: a tour of one fifth of French territory.
