Du côté de Mont de Lans et des 2 Alpes (Circuit n°12)
On the Route des 2 Alpes, stop at the edge of Lake Chambon and imagine the hamlets of Chambon, Parizet and Dauphin disappearing under the millions of cubic meters of water from the hydroelectric dam built in 1935.
Departing from Bourg d'Oisans, this circuit is approximately 44 km round trip.
The foundations of the Chambon dam are 40m deep. It extends over 1,4 km² and has changed the face of this secret valley hidden in the hollow of enormous mountains.
When you enter the village of Mont de Lans, you will immediately see that this village is smiling again: the diversion has in fact opened up the streets to pedestrians and strollers. Park up and go visit ↘the Chasal Lento Museum Café. This abundant museum evokes step by step the history of Oisans, from prehistory to the construction of the 2 Alpes resort. This erudite and fascinating overview of the country's human adventure is illustrated through a rich collection of objects, ancient clothing, tools... A museum with an intimate atmosphere that should be discovered without delay, and preferably on Wednesday (day market, giant wooden games from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., in the afternoon: spinning and carding workshop
wool, crochet and knitting)!
Take the car again or better yet take the Mont-de-Lans chairlift to access Les 2 Alpes. This international resort is full of activities of all kinds that you will have difficulty exhausting in a few days!
And to continue with a cultural rhythm, visit the exhibition at the ↘Maison de la Montagne before strolling through the lively streets of Les 2 Alpes. Admire the Muzelle, the emblematic mountain of the resort, with its glacier and snow
eternal. On the way back, you can take the ↘route des Travers à Bons, a very spectacular balcony path with an impressive view of the Infernet gorges.
