Du Lautaret à l'Alpe de Villar d'Arène par le sentier des Crevasses
A route that will delight lovers of wide open spaces, pastoralism and thrills on the Crevasses schist trail.
From the car park below the Lautaret pass, go up to quickly reach a crossroads.
Turn right and leave the Laurichard trail. Cross a footbridge to gradually climb up the hillside. The trail crosses several streams and shrubby areas to lead to a more open area.
Reach the L'Homme viewpoint. Shortly afterwards, cross and close a gate and descend the schistose and gullied slopes of the path called Crevasses, being careful on this slippery terrain in wet weather.
Go to the Villar d'Arène mountain pasture and cross the GR 54 near the weather station.
Shortly afterwards, leave the GR 54, turn right and continue straight on to the Alpe de Villar-d'Arêne refuge.
Return by the same route to the Col du Lautaret.
