Freerando depuis le Pic Blanc
Once at the top of the Pic Blanc, 3330 m, the vertigo of possibilities takes hold of you. From this panorama classified 3*** in the Michelin guide, from where 1/5th of the French territory is visible, discover large-scale itineraries to put you under the skid.
This starting point for freerando is located on theAlpe d'Huez Large Ski Area:
Nestled in the Grandes Rousses massif, the site has magical potential for inventing free hiking routes. The massif, oriented north/south with the Pic Blanc and its cable car access to the summit, offers us a huge number of original compositions: descents on the eastern side for a wild atmosphere, descents on the western side to reach the stations of Vaujany, from Oz-en-Oisans or Alpe d'Huez and more glacial routes
North.
Routes from the Pic Blanc :
– The Pyramid (3351 m)
Don't put on your skins just yet, you'll first have to enter the beautiful Grand Sablat valley. Resist the urge to head down and head back up to the Col de la Pyramide (3351 m) to ski the beautiful route of the same name.
– Pic Bayle > The Great Savage (3137 m)
(Go back up to the Col des Quirlies (3101 m) then to the summit of the Grand Sauvage). This magnificent route is part of the Grandes Rousses crossing. A major route with little ascent and a lot of descent. Return via the col de Sarenne.
– Pic Bayle > Côte Séverail (2959 m)
The eastern slopes of the Grandes Rousses massif are full of possibilities for free rando. Côte Séverail is a superb slope that joins the Grand Sablat from the eponymous pass (3309 m).
– Pic Bayle > Fiole corridor (3310 m)
For descents on the Ferrand valley side (village of Clavans) go back up to the col de Sarenne (1999 m) between + 200 m and + 400 m of ascent depending on the snow conditions and the route chosen.
