Grande boucle de l'Aiguillon

Villar-d'Arêne
Hike to a lake and then a 360° viewpoint over the valley, the Meije and the Lambs.
From the car park at the bottom of Villar d'Arène (1670 m), go up alongside the church, take the street opposite and cross the village to the national road.

Cross the national road then 100 m further up take the path on the left which goes up towards the Saint-Antoine chapel.

At the entrance to the hamlet of Cours, do not take the tarmac road which goes off to the left but continue straight on to cross the hamlet along its entire length.

At the fountain, go up to the left and 20 m further, take the path to the right.
At the end of the hamlet, take the “Cour Rambaude” path which goes up to the left.

Cross the track coming from the lake car park and take the path opposite to reach Lac du Pontet (1985 m). Go around the lake on the left.

Go up to the left on a small path which runs along the mountainside to the Col de l'Aiguillon.

Follow the Aiguillon ridge to the left to reach the summit (2095 m).

Go down the “Côtes de la Ville” path which follows the ridge slightly to the right and joins the national road via numerous bends.

Follow the national road for a few meters then turn left onto a path which joins Villar d'Arène.
