Itinéraire d'alpinisme : le Rocher de l'Aigle
If you are passionate about high mountains, want to familiarize yourself with mountaineering techniques and have an extraordinary experience, this is a hike made for you... thrills and views beyond reality guaranteed!!!
Difficulty:
Summer: On foot, from the sheep bridge near the hamlet of Pied du Col, 4 km east of Villar d'Arène (1780m elevation gain, 6 hours). After the good path, you pass rocky bars and snowfields to reach the Col du Bec, followed by the north ridge of the Bec de l'Homme. The Amieux ledge equipped with cables allows you to set foot on the Tabuchet glacier: this is where crampons and ropes become essential to reach the Rocher de l'Aigle
In spring: Put on your skis, from La Grave or better from Villar d'Arène via the Côte Longue moraine before setting foot on the immense Tabuchet glacier (1800m drop, approximately 6 hours of walking).
