Itinerary:
Du Col d’Ornon, follow the direction of the Cabanes des Roudons passing through the Entrance of the Col, Le Vernay, Bois du Vernay, Les Palles, La Digue des Palles and Les Roudons. At Les Roudons, you can go to the cabin, otherwise take the return path following the direction of Les Adreys, Le Crozet, Côte Plane. Then follow the direction Col d’Ornon passing through Les Siauds, Les Suffets, Le Pied du Vernay, Le Vernay and the Entrance to the Col.
If this hike crosses the largest alder grove in Europe, it first crystallizes man's fight against erosion, through dikes and dams built to protect against floods. It also crosses a forest with varied species (larch, pine and spruce) resulting from the long-term work of foresters to retain the soil since the end of the 19th century.
