La Grave

La Pêche au Pays de la Meije

In the Land of La Meije, in a sumptuous setting, fishing is a real pleasure!
Come and enjoy the peace and quiet during your vacation, alone or with family and friends, close to the glaciers, it's a place where the trout have a field day!
A river, La Romanche, fish-filled lakes, Lac du Pontet, Lac Noir as well as a turquoise-colored body of water.
When you take a fishing license from a depository, you automatically join the Approved Association for Fishing and Protection of Aquatic Environments to which this depository depends. The price of the fishing license allows, among other things, Associations to fulfill their missions: monitoring of fishing, negotiation and exploitation of fishing rights for the benefit of a large number of fishermen, fish management and restocking as well as the protection of species and aquatic environments.

Romansh:
A steeply sloping river, the Romanche rises beneath the glacier of 'La Plate des Agneaux' (northern part of the Ecrins National Park) and flows into the Drac south of Grenoble. It is a superb river. The high-Alpine limit of the Romanche ends below the village of La Grave. On this upstream section, brown trout and brook trout are fished from the springs in a fabulous setting: Col du Lautaret, high peaks and Glacier de la Meije nearby.
Quickly, under the village of Villar d'Arêne, the Romanche became powerful. The posts and counter-currents are well marked. The fishing is very fast there where you have to be keen and very attentive otherwise there will be numerous failures that often go unnoticed.
Access is without too many problems from the D 1091 and several bridges are present.

Arsine lake:
A small lake is located near Villar-d'Arêne at the Arsine bridge: the Pied du Col lake. We fish here for brown trout and rainbow trout on the regulations of 1st category watercourses.

Nearby high-altitude lakes:
Several high altitude lakes surround these two valleys. Some are famous for their fishing: Lake Le Noir, Lake Puy Vachier, Lake Goléon, Lake Pontet for Romanche. “You can reach them after a few hours of hiking. Loaded with all the equipment, you sometimes have to know how to motivate yourself to overcome the last climb. Nothing terrible but all the same, shortness of breath, “heavy” legs, the appearance of the lake is a reward… these lakes are worth it.

Then fishing takes on a completely different value: the silence, the taste of the air, the color of the sky, that of the stones, the grass and the water, the murmur of the brake on the reel, or the splash quick with a swallow. Just very simple things. Everything is appreciated. Time stops there. You are good, you are fishing. »
Sometimes you catch a fish. But the spirit is not to be killed and is often gently returned to the water.
