La Tête de Louis XVI par le col de Corbière
Under the watchful eye of the Grand Renaud, the royal profile sits enthroned on mineral undulations and joins the Lignarre Valley.
From the car park, go down the road for about a hundred metres.
Take the path on the left towards “Col de Corbière”.
After crossing several valleys, the path begins a winding climb through the magnificent flowery meadows of the pastures. The path then leads steeply down to the Grand Riou (1608m), offering a plunging view over the wild torrent and its potholes.
From the Grand Riou, descend slightly to the right to cross the torrent. From this point, follow the winding climb then cross the valleys and then climb back up into the meadow to the Col de Corbières (1926m).
At the pass, follow the sign Tête de Louis XVI (1980m), and go up on the right.
The return is by the same path, but it is also possible to go back down on the side of the station of Col d’Ornon.
