Le refuge de la Selle
At the end of the long Devil's Valley, the airy refuge of La Selle stands facing the legendary peaks of Râteau and Tête du Replat.
Departure from the car park downstream from the church (1472 m). Follow the main road and enter the hamlet. After the bar "La Cordée", turn left (follow Vallon de la Selle). The path climbs quickly between the houses and a sparse deciduous forest (yellow markings). The path cuts several bends in the tarmac road before arriving at the parking lot of the meadows (1673 m) (follow Vallon de la Selle).
Cross the Torrent du Diable footbridge and take the path on the right that leads to the "Croix du Batel" crossroads (follow Vallon de La Selle). From there, the path follows the torrent to the refuge valley (2350 m), crossing several torrents from the waterfalls on the right bank. The slope is not very steep and regular up to an altitude of around 2050 m. Between 2050 m and 2350 m, the path gradually steepens. The last 300 meters are a little steeper and allow you to cross a moraine that leads to the refuge.
Return by the same route.
