Le sentier des mules
While hiking on this trail, how can one not be struck by all these terraces that surround the villages of the canton? At the beginning of the last century they were all cultivated.
From the starting point of Chazelet (1770 m), go down towards the village along the car park. At the first junction, do not go up into the village but take a hairpin bend on the right towards the foot of the ski lifts.
Cross the Gâ at the start of the chairlift then follow the wide hairpins which go up the entire eastern slope of the Plateau d'Emparis.
Pass the benches (2060 m) and, at this point, turn left towards the southern edge of the Plateau d'Emparis. Exceptional view of the Malaval valley located 1000 m lower. Pass close to the ruins of "Maison Rouge" and "Pré Veyraud" (2132m).
Turn right towards the small pass (2164 m).
At this point, join the GR 54, and follow it down to the benches. At the benches, turn left and take the path that crosses the Plateau d'Emparis ski lift and joins the hamlet of Clot Raffin.
Take the path that leads to the bridge located at the start of the ski lifts. Go back up to Chazelet by a wide track to reach the starting point of the route.
