ROUTE
Leaving the Tourist Office, head towards Huez via the church alley and the upper street. Turn left onto the path that leads to the Pierre Ronde to rejoin the road at Lachal. A photo stop at the Pas de la Confession is highly recommended to admire Le Bourg d'Oisans at your feet. After crossing Huez, enter the Sarenne Gorges and then head towards the magnificent Roman Bridge, a stone structure. You will tackle your first big climb to reach Maronne and then switch towards Armentier via a pretty forest trail. The next 1 kilometers are not suitable for people with vertigo!!! You will overlook the Romanche Valley above the Route de la Roche in Auris en Oisans with a breathtaking panorama in very impressive slate valleys. Arriving at Cours d'Auris you take the Chemin du Facteur, a historic trail with a view of the Chambon dam, Les 5 Alpes and the Plateau d'Emparis, to enter the wild part of Oisans where ski lifts do not exist. The gentle climb towards Clavans le Bas then Clavant le Haut allows you to revisit the history of Protestants in Oisans. Don't forget to take advantage of the fountains in the villages to fill up on essential water before tackling the ascent of the famous Col de SarenneThe photo in front of the sign is a nice nod to our cycling friends.
The descent towards the Sarenne gorges is by road before finding the path which in winter corresponds to the longest ski slope in Europe. You then take the chemin des mulles to go back up towards the Herpie mine and the American house for a return to Alpe d'Huez via the Altiport. During the crossing of the ski resort be careful with cars and pay attention to the markings. You then find the panoramic path for a return to Villard Reculas via Lac du Langaret.

THE “LITTLE EXTRA”: Sarenne
Le col de Sarenne is a pass in the Alps culminating at an altitude of 1 m. It crosses the Grandes Rousses massif and separates Haut-Oisans from Alpe d'Huez. Made very famous by the Tour de France, it is also a popular starting point for hikes.
