Discover the different hamlets ofAuris-en-Oisans, the charm of old stones and the traditional atmosphere of mountain villages. An easy route with a clear view of the surroundings.
You will cross the hamlets of Auris, in search of history and heritage.
You will be able to enjoy the panorama of the Écrins.

ROUTE
From the car park in the hamlet of Les Cours, join the main road which you go up for 100 metres to cross and take the path which joins Les Certs. The route is shaded with a few openings to enjoy the view.
In the hamlet of Les Certs, you will stroll between the houses of the hamlet and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere before continuing the hike.
The path that goes down to La Balme goes off to the left just before the wash house. A pretty stone staircase goes down between the houses and the path runs through fields, to arrive at the hamlet of La Balme.
You will cross the Balme, then, after the chapel, you will follow the direction of Les Châtains, a beautiful crossing on a semi-shaded balcony to enjoy the breathtaking view of the Romanche, the Écrins massif including the Meije is queen.
At Les Châtains, turn left onto the first street that joins the main road. Turn left for 50 meters, then cross the road and complete the loop to the hamlet of Les Cours. You can stop at the eco-museum “La Maison d'Alice” at Les Cours.
Alternatively, you can complete the loop from Auris station, heading towards Les Cours. The route will be the same for the return.
TO SEE ON THE COURSE
– In the hamlet of Certs, walk along the narrow streets to the Saint-Jean-Baptiste chapel, whose wooden bell tower makes it special.
– The hamlet of Cours is home to a chapel, an eco-museum and a few sundials indicating plenty of sunshine.
THINGS TO DO NEARBY
– Discover the heritage orientation trail, discovering the hamlets of Auris. Available at the tourist office or downloadable from the website www.auris.fr.
– The Chimney Trail of La Balme, which plunges into the bottom of the Romanche Valley, not far from Clapier d'Auris. This historic path was the only one connecting the village to the valley.
TO KNOW
Auris is located not far from the Roman road that connected Turin to Vienna via Susa, the Montgenèvre pass, Briançon, the Lautaret pass and Grenoble. Auris must have been served by a secondary road that was sunnier compared to the main road that passed through Mont de Lans.
Dogs must be kept on a leash due to the presence of herding dogs at certain times of the year.
