Les lacs d'Arsine au départ du Casset
The hamlet of Casset lives to the rhythm of colors: from the green meadows of the valley to the pastel blue of the glacial lakes of Arsine.
From the car park at the entrance to the hamlet of Casset, at the level of the Park Information Centre, go up the hamlet via the main street to cross the second bridge over the Guisane on your left.
A straight track runs alongside the Petit Tabuc torrent and allows you to gradually leave the hay meadows and head into the woods.
Beyond the barrier and the Clot du Gué bridge, a steady climb crosses the larch forest and leads first to the Grand Pré clearing (1683 m) then to the Lac de la Douche (1901 m).
The heart of the Ecrins National Park begins on the other side of the stone and wood ford. A winding path through a large scree provides a well-deserved access to a mineral valley populated by chamois. In the distance, on the right, the shepherd's hut recalls the use of the space, a place of pasture. The path continues on the right of the valley and ends at the Col d'Arsine (2340 m).
It's time to leave the GR 54 to cross the large frontal moraine of the Arsine Glacier. From this ledge shaped by glacial movements, two large lakes mark the end of your journey (2455 m). The cirque of the Arsine Glacier topped with majestic peaks: the Agneaux and the Pic de Neige Cordier, offers itself with wonder.
