Les Sources de la Romanche
A pleasant family hike, for an immersion in the high mountains near the Reine Meije.
Leave the lake on the right and take the path on the left which follows the GR®54 route along the old gravel pit.
Arriving at the summer car park, the valley narrows and the path rises after the Colombier stream to reach the mountain pastures.
Continue to follow the route on the left without taking the path that comes from the Col du Lautaret, then pass in front of a weather station and reach the Alpe de Villar d'Arène refuge (2 m) via the path on the right.
Arriving at the Alpe de Villar d'Arêne refuge (from the back), take the path that goes down on the right towards the valley with its mineral landscape until reaching a crossroads with a footbridge. Cross the footbridge and take the long path crossing the Plan de l'Alpe.
At the bottom of the valley, turn left at the intersection towards the Adèle Planchard refuge (leave the Valfourche bridge on your right). After a short steep slope on the left bank, the path leads to a small grassy plateau where the sources of the Romanche are located.
To return, continue walking along the same path.
Then at the crossroads of the small bridge of Valfourche, continue the path on the left which goes down along the bank of the torrent. Pass in front of the hydraulic power station to take the steep path of Pas d'Anna Falque on the left. Then, stay on the same starting route for the descent.
