Livet-et-Gavet

Parcours patrimonial Sur les pas de C-A Keller

A new route to delve into the beginnings of the hydraulic industry in Livet. "In the footsteps of Charles-Albert Keller" A stroll in 12 stages, from the Vernes power station (historical monument) to the old factories and buildings linked to Keller.
A booklet on sale at the Romanche Museum will allow you to wander around alone or during guided tours. You will discover in particular the Keller house, with its unique architecture that became famous with the film "The Crimson Rivers." A pleasant and fun way to learn a little more about our industrial heritage.

The Vernes power plant theatrically illustrates the driving power of water. Large bay windows pierce these two massive buildings, lighting the tiled interior hall. Their vaulted metal framework supports the terrace, served by a two-flight staircase. A French garden was laid out there.

This power plant still produces electricity. It was replaced in 2010 (along with the five other power plants in the Romanche Valley) by the Gavet hydroelectric power plant. The Vernes power plant and the façade of the Livet factory are the only two industrial buildings preserved in this project.
