Pic Nord des Cavales (3158 m)

First, the route follows the GR 54 then leaves it in the pas d'Anna Falque to join the right bank of the Romanche. At the Valfourche bridge, you must continue on the left bank of the Cavales torrent. To reach the Pavé refuge, two solutions are possible: stay on the edge of the moraine and follow the path to the bottom of the valley then by a horizontal crossing on the right hand side (northeast direction) reach the refuge or go down into the valley formed by the moraine on the right and follow a steep path that crosses obliquely the rocky bars (cables) that defend the entrance to the Pavé cirque (faster but tricky).
The mountaineering race begins on the second day from the Pavé refuge to the summit of the Pic Nord des Cavales.
