ITINERARIES
To reach the Fay and Mouterres refuge from Mizoen, here are two possibilities:
– From the hamlet of Aymes (1279 m) (OBP n°343) follow the balcony path above the Chambon lake. You will reach the Emparis plateau after passing through the Lovitel reserve (peat bog area), the Clôts refuge (1540 m) then the petrifying fountain just above 1800 m). The latter is a waterfall with a curious hydrogeological phenomenon: the waters of the Emparis plateau come out in the form of an emergency and slide on a very smooth limestone veil. The path opens onto the Emparis plateau at Clot du Pertuis (2178 m), and winds up to the refuges (2250 m).
– From the hamlet of Singuigneret (1358 m) (OBP n°344): the path climbs more directly towards the plateau, crossing the track several times. It joins the old refuge of Chatons (1798 m). Continue until the intersection of the Loutre de Quoa (2287 m), from there the path joins the refuges (2250 m). Note: from the Loutre de Quoa you can make a loop by joining Besse (OBP n°358).

TO SEE ON THE COURSE
– From Les Aymes: the panorama above the Chambon lake, the discovery trail of the Lovitel lake (wetland), the orientation table, the small Clots refuge and its eco-museum and the petrifying fountains.
– From Singuigneret: crossing the slate quarries, Alpe valley.

TO KNOW
The path towards the Clôts refuge is a little steep, hold the children's hands tightly.
From the refuges you can continue exploring the plateau either towards the Noir and Lérié lakes, or towards the Col St-Georges.
