Refuge de l'Aigle (3450m)

Villar-d'Arêne
Climbing to the highest refuge in the Écrins massif is akin to a mountain race, described here as mountaineering. From the Aigle you can discover the extraordinary view and enjoy the opportunity to spend the night "in Meije ».
The start of the climb to the Aigle refuge follows a well-marked path to the place called "l'Âne". From there, the path is less obvious. Via rocky slopes and the snowfields of the Bec glacier, it reaches the eponymous pass. The ascent then continues along the northern ridge of the Bec de l'Homme then joins the Tabuchet glacier. The Aigle refuge is then not very far away.
The descent is via the same route.
