Allemond

Ski de randonnée depuis Articol / Belledonne

Articol is a small hamlet full of promise for wild and major hikes on the eastern slope of the Belledonne massif.
A real local star for hiking departures, you can also taste cheese made in Rivier or share a drink on the way back.

HIKING SUGGESTION from Articol
> Classic day itinerary:
– Col de la Balmette (2665 m) + 1670 m
From Articol: as always on the eastern slope of Belledonne, you will first have to leave the forest before attacking the summit slopes. Then you reach the beautiful plateau of the Lac de la Balmette before taking the beautiful northern then eastern slopes of the pass, overlooked by the majestic Pic de Belledonne.
– Roche Rousse (2748 m) + 1750 m
A less traveled hike because it is located between the two flagship passes of the district: the Col de la Balmette and the Col de Roche Noire. The last slope to reach the summit is rarely done on skis.

OTHER POSSIBILITIES
– Belledonne Cross (2926 m) + 1900 m
– Grand Pic de Belledonne East Face (2978 m) + 1900 m

OLLE / BELLEDONNE WATER SECTOR
As soon as you enter Oisans from Grenoble, the Eau d'Olle valley attracts you... To end up haunting you: so many possibilities, so much beauty! The routes extend from the village ofAllemond until col de la Croix de Fer, from the foothills of the Belledone massif to those of the Grandes Rousses massif.
Belledonne is the mountain of the people of Grenoble. This horizon of sharp peaks titillates city dwellers all week long and every weekend, the peaks cause a small exodus from the city to the mountains. But on the Oisans side, with a ski-in ski-out in the Eau d'Olle valley, we are well mountain huted from the crowds.
The etymology of Belledonne is controversial: the name comes from “bella donna” because the monumental silhouette of the Grand Pic evoked for the Piedmontese workers the Virgin carrying the child. The Gauls said “belo” for strong or powerful. It was necessary to do that to describe this solid crystalline massif 60 km long, with broad shoulders but narrow hips of only 10 km.
Its highest point, the Grand Pic de Belledonne, tickles 3000 m. It sometimes has the arrogant allure of the Patagonian Fitz Roy or a black virgin, depending on your point of view. A true natural barrier, a citadel of schist, gneiss (and a little granite all the same), Belledonne is one of the wildest French massifs.
