La Grave

Ski de randonnée depuis La Grave

La Grave is the largest off-piste ski area in Europe. And between off-piste skiing and touring there is only a step, or rather a few hundred meters of vertical drop.
Known internationally, the cable car allows you to reach the high mountain area without having to take a long approach walk, depending on the season, and allows you to multiply the possibilities for hiking and raids... The place to be!

SUGGESTED HIKE FROM LA GRAVE
> Discovery itinerary for the day:
– The Terraces (1782 m) + 310 m
When the valley is covered in snow, climbing up to the village of Les Terrasses is one of those happy moments that can only be found in the mountains. The view is stunning, the climb is steady, and arriving in the village gives you time to admire the narrow streets and architectural details. As for the descent: a jewel of beautiful curves under the royal eye of the Meije.
OTHER POSSIBILITIES
– Col des Plagnes (2106 m) + 545 m
– Le Paquier (1837 m) + 400 m
– Enfetchores Tower (2989 m) + 550 m
– Rideau Pan (3406 m) + 200 m
WITH NIGHT IN REFUGE
> The Rake Tour
– Day 1: + 1270 m
Ruillans station (3200 m) > Selle valley via the Lauze dome (3535 m) > Râteau gap (3232 m) > Étançons valley > Promontoire refuge (3092 m).
– Day 2: + 265 m
Breach of the Meije (3357 m) > The Enfetchores > La Grave (1400 m).

LA GRAVE SECTOR
La Grave, located at an altitude of 1500 m at the foot of the Meije, has survived the ages while preserving its beauty. The village rightly benefits from the coveted label “The Most Beautiful Villages of France”. As for the landscape, it’s euphoric: you look up and a myriad of sparkling glaciers and sharp peaks reach out to you.
For us hikers, La Grave is a fantastic starting point with the cable car of the Meije which allows you to considerably shorten the approach walks to races, each more magical than the last. With many peaks between 3000 and almost 4000 m, this territory is of course dedicated to high mountains. La Grave, it’s our Chamonix in Oisans… minus the crowds!
