LIGNARRE AND LIGNARRE VALLEY SECTOR COL D’ORNON
Two sectors for the price of one! One on the Taillefer side and the other on the Grand Renaud side, the accesses are not the same but relatively close together.
In any case, you will enter the secret and friendly Lignarre Valley where the imprint of the mountain lifestyle can be seen everywhere. With its small hamlets scattered on the steep slopes of the valley, far from the big tourist centers, Lignarre is a multitude of nooks and crannies to discover.
“Taillefer”, its name alone cracks like a whip, comes from the lead mines, an austere metal stubbornly torn from the mountain. A little-known massif, surrounded by mysteries, surrounded by beautiful peaks, full of peat bogs and lakes. When you arrive from Grenoble, the massif overlooks the road with a sheer drop of almost 1000 m. On the north face, it is a small, almost impregnable citadel with a mysterious aura. Geologically, it is an extension of Belledonne but the Romanche valley isolates it. Its summit: Taillefer culminates at 2857 m and offers a superb view of Grenoble, the Ecrins and the Dévoluy. The snow, due to the lack of visitors, remains untouched for a long time on this massif.
Those in the know know it well: the Taillefer, although not yet a gold mine, is an inexhaustible mine for ski touring!
On the Grand Renaud side, you can explore the large cirque in which the small village of Villard-Reymond, or opt for the small family resort of col d’Ornon which allows you to do some great free-rando runs or reach the surrounding mountain ranges without too much effort.
