ROUTE
From the center of Bourg d'Oisans, take the direction of Villard-Notre-Dame on the D219. The road rises very quickly above the valley. Remember to warm up properly on the plain before the ascent.
The first part, cut into the rock, on the side of a cliff, is particularly difficult, notably because of the crossing of three unlit tunnels, sometimes plunged into complete darkness. Don't leave without lighting! Traffic is rare but the narrowness of the road and the proximity of the void make encounters with vehicles quite dangerous.
We finally get into a rhythm from the second part, in hairpin bends in the forest, and so on until Villard-Notre-Dame.
Arrive at Villard-Notre-Dame, you arrive directly at THE village square. From there, you can push open the doors of the church, the interior of which is worth a visit. If this picturesque climb has whetted your appetite, you can go in search of the “Bar / Snack bar”. Otherwise, cross the village and continue climbing until you reach the forest track which joins Villard-ReymondThe surface is not asphalt, but you can drive on it without any problem and dismount, just in case.
At the end of this track, you are at the Col du Solude (1686 m), the summit of your route.
Continue around Villard-Reymond by the paved road and arrive at the entrance to the village. Turn right to go back down directly to Bourg d'Oisans via the D210. Before starting the descent, you can also go back up to the village to enjoy a refreshing break on the sunny terrace of the “Gîte de l'eau Blanche”.
GOOD TO KNOW
This route can be done in both directions from Bourg d'Oisans.
But if in the middle of summer you are looking for coolness, know that the road between Bourg d'Oisans and Villard-Notre-Dame is in the shade in the afternoon and that the descent from Villard Reymond will be on a sunny slope.
