Fermeture définitive – Refuge de la Pilatte
The Pilatte refuge is now completely closed to the public.
The accelerated melting of the Pilatte glacier is leading to the destabilization of the bedrock on which the building is built. The major disorders observed last spring no longer allow us to welcome the public in complete safety and have led us to conduct additional geological expertise.
In view of the conclusions of this study and in accordance with municipal decree no. 2021-032 taken by the mayor of Saint Christophe en Oisans:
– Access to the platform on which the building is located is now prohibited
– The two buildings that make up the Pilatte refuge (main building and winter mountain hut) are completely closed to the public: unfortunately, no emergency mountain hut is accessible, no accommodation or catering services are offered.
The refuge is located on a moraine promontory overlooking the Pilatte glacier, with a view of the Bans, the Ailefroide and the Ecrins.
