In the heart of the Grandes Rousses massif, the Fare refuge offers, from its 134 years of history, an authentic atmosphere.
It is a small, intimate, family-friendly refuge with quick access, located in a magnificent and very wild setting. It welcomes those curious about a first night in a refuge, passing hikers and mountaineers who come to discover the surrounding medium and high mountain routes, between lakes and peaks. Experiencing an evening, a night, an early morning at the Fare refuge, these are strong moments and unforgettable memories.

Food and drinks all day, local products…
From the refuge it is possible to practice certain activities, such as fishing, mountaineering, climbing and hiking. Reservation required by telephone.

Starting point: L'Alpe d'Huez / Lac BessonOr there are three other possibilities to access the refuge:The first will consist of taking the Alpette cable car from the Oz station or the Alpette cable car from the Vaujany, then climb the remaining 300 m of altitude difference in three quarters of an hour. The second option is to take the small road after the Alpe d'Huez resort which passes the Poutran pass to the end, and start from the Besson lake car park. Practically flat, the path which leads to the refuge only slopes after the Alpette junction. Last possibility for good walkers, start from the hamlet of Bessay in Oz en Oisans by following paths n°232 and n°262 (Oisans au Bout des Pieds map).
