At an altitude of 2000m lies the Taillefer plateau where several lakes lie. Its endemic flora and fauna are reminiscent of the landscapes of the Nordic tundra. The Taillefer refuge is located in this unique setting, a trail accessible to young and old.

Please note: this site is Natura 2000 certified and is subject to numerous measures to preserve its biodiversity. In this sense, we invite you to adopt good reflexes when you come in order to protect this sensitive space.

The landscape crossed evokes the Nordic tundras dotted with a myriad of small lakes and frog ponds. Some preserve in their sediments fossilized tree trunks testifying to the presence of the forest here, 6000 years ago. The entire plateau is classified Natura 2000, the European network of remarkable natural environments.
Come and enjoy the orientation table 50 m from the refuge offering a panorama of all the mountains of Oisans.

By Oulles in 2 hours from the hamlet of Pouillard, elevation gain 656 m. Magnificent view of the peaks of Oisans throughout the hike (Map: n°3335 OT) Via La Grenonière to Ornon, park in the Terres Froides car park, then follow the GR50 to Basse Montagne, before turning right to the refuge. Elevation gain: 730m, access time: 2h30 (Map: n°3335 OT and n°3336 ET). Via Alpe du Grand Serre, follow the tarmac road to Poursollet. Then, take the GR50 towards Lac Fourchu, go around it on the right, cross the Pas de l'Envious before going back down to the refuge. Elevation gain: 400m, access time: 2h.
