Refuge Evariste Chancel
The Evariste Chancel refuge (2508 m) has 39 places.
It is located on a terrace overlooking the Romanche valley and La Grave, from where you can enjoy a magnificent viewpoint over the entire Haute Romanche valley.

In summer, the refuge is accessible from the cable car station along the Puy Vachier lake (1 hour). For the more athletic, there is also a trail from La Grave (3 h). Easy routes.
With half-board at the refuge, benefit from a reduction on the round trip by cable car to the 2400 station.
*In summer from the refuge:
Mountaineering: the Rake, the Pic de la Grave.
Hiking: Col des Ruillans, Brêche Pacave.
Fishing: in the Puy Vachier lake.
Mountain biking: For the more experienced, a mountain bike trail provides access to the refuge.
IN WINTER, the refuge is accessible only by sliding (skiing, snowboarding, telemarking, etc.). The snow is not groomed, the slopes are not marked, and it is this difference that attracts lovers of a real mountain.
*In winter from the refuge: Off-piste skiing / Mountaineering
During the winter, the last ascent with the Glacier Cable Cars of the Meije is offered to you if you buy a package for the next day!

Reception addition: Please note during winter the opening and closing dates may be modified due to weather conditions. It is strongly recommended to telephone before going up, and to be supervised by a High Mountain Guide or a state-certified ski instructor from the ESF (French Ski School).
