Refuge Les Mouterres
Come and recharge your batteries at an altitude of 2250 m facing the glaciers of the Meije In an idyllic setting. On an alpine pasture where sheep and chamois graze, with vultures and other large birds of prey flying overhead, come and meet us and share a moment of relaxation.
Please note: this site is Natura 2000 certified and is subject to numerous measures to preserve its biodiversity. In this sense, we invite you to adopt good reflexes when you come in order to protect this sensitive space.
The Plateau itself is a little corner of paradise, with a wide variety of alpine flowers in June and July, numerous colonies of marmots near the refuge, grasshoppers, butterflies, dragonflies near the lakes, but also larks, golden eagles and recently vultures from the south (around sixty). Emparis has also always been a renowned mountain pasture: the path will then be an excuse to go and meet the shepherds, their dogs and their thousands of sheep. The departure is also possible from Besse in Oisans or Le Chazelet, in both cases following the GR54.
Observation equipment available. Guardians for 10 years, we will be delighted to help you discover our heritage and show you chamois and ibex when you come!
