Magic, when you hold us…
The beautiful clear sky that flooded our day of hiking with bursts of sunshine will soon don its light suit… The night in the mountains shines brightly. Eager to walk under the moon, we finish the aperitif sitting on the edge of the stream, silent, hypnotized by the mountain falling asleep.
Here we are... This night in a refuge could only have a special flavor, we have waited so long for it. The influx of emotions is very strong.
"We talked about it so much, we had imagined so many things... And now we are silent, a little intimidated."
The meal begins early in the refuge, we watch the growing darkness from inside while getting to know our companions for the day.
The “leek, split pea, fennel” soup has never been so good. The flavors of fresh produce, the sweet fatigue of the climb to the refuge and this warm kindness that marks the faces of the table…
After lunch, we enter the refuge with the excitement and apprehension of a first day of school. Night overwhelms us, and, surprise, the landscapes are almost as bright as in broad daylight! The dark walls frame an incredible sky. The same question comes to all of us: "are there more stars in the sky in the mountains?" Such density leaves one speechless...

A myriad of details are visible around. Surprisingly, without the "backlight" effect of light pollution, the night is brighter in the middle of nowhere.
We climb up a small hillock nearby, noses in the air, without fear of tripping, to sit under the immensity of the night. The stars are so numerous that they form rosettes of light everywhere. The Milky Way bars the sky like graffiti. The peaks are only a shadow, a vast protective circus.
"Damn, it's even more beautiful at night..." We smile at each other. We go back inside and slip into our sleeping bags. Everything's fine.
“We talked about it so much, we had imagined so many things… And now we are silent, a little intimidated”
