At an altitude of 1 m, the Lauvitel, a turquoise mirror of the Isère Alps, reflects the high peaks of Oisans.

Located in the “heart zone” of the Écrins National Park, the lake is surrounded by cliffs and waterfalls that form a spectacular cirque. This remarkable natural site is also home to a fragile ecosystem that is the subject of scientific research.

Lauvitel is the most famous lake in the Écrins National Park, renowned for the beauty of its waters and its unspoiled nature. The natural setting that surrounds it is also unique. Where to find Lake Lauvitel?

The main departure point for getting to Lauvitel is from the hamlet of La Danchère.


Practical information about Lauvitel 

By dearly May to late November, depending on snow conditions (informsz-you from the Bourg-d'Oisans tourist office). 
ATTENTION: in July and August, the lake of Lauvitel is very busy. We strongly advise you to avoid this period.

Since Land Bourg-d'Oisans, take the direction ofs Two Alps. Arrived at place called “Le Clapier” from Auris", take the RD 530 leading to Vénosc et Saint-Christophe-en-Oisans. Swimming is strongly discouraged.e, because she generates significants disturbances on la fauna and flora present inin the waters of the lake. 

Water sports (paddle, canoe, etc.) whatever they may be, are prohibited and more generally boating. 

Yes, fishing is allowed. However, fishing en boat is forbidden.

Unfortunately, no. Your faithful four-legged companion ne cannot access area heart of the park nnational of Ecrins, even when carried or kept on a leash. Indeed, local wildlife will take itit for a predator and it would alter too deep their behaviour. 

Campfires are prohibited, because the site of the Lauvitel is in the area heart of the Écrins National Park. So marshmallows yes, but not toasted!

Noise is strictly prohibited in the core area of the park nnational of Ecrins, for the peace of mind of all and especially that of the fauna.  

Le motorized flyover, especially by drone, is strictly not allowed in the National Park of Cases. You will have to content yourselftake yours beautiful memories.
