Discovery of the fauna of Oisans, plants and trees and the secret world of the forest floor
Discovery of the fauna of Oisans: "There... I see it!!! Where?!"... The encounter with an animal in its natural environment is always unpredictable and magical. After discovering that the chamois and the ibex are the main inhabitants of the slopes of the surrounding mountains, we try to approach them as closely as possible to observe them with a telescope... But shh, they risk running away! And who knows, maybe we will come across the wolf...
Meeting plants: every time we walk in nature, we come across multiple plants and flowers. But do we know how they grow, how they feed? And why are they so different from each other in terms of their color, shape or stem? Thanks to a collecting hike and then the creation of a herbarium, everyone understands a part of the nature that surrounds them...
Meeting the trees: the forest is an environment where trees are the lords. Through an approach walk, students discover the different forest layers, the species that compose it and note that a tree, in addition to its own constitution, also mountain huts a rich and complex world (insects, mushrooms, etc.).
The secret world of the forest floor:
Let’s look up: trees…
Let’s look into the distance: plants…
Let's lower our heads: the ground...
But do we know who lives, moves and feeds under the humus of the forest?
If we look more closely, we will discover how life adapts and transforms according to the seasons. Get your magnifying glasses ready!
LANDSCAPES, THEIR EVOLUTION AND MANAGEMENT: a hike allows students to understand the evolution of landscapes and the influence that humans have on the environment through several elements: agriculture, reforestation, urbanization, industrial activities (mines, hydroelectric dams) or tourist infrastructures (hiking trails, roads, resorts, etc.). An observation in the field highlights the importance and role of certain landscape and environment management organizations (regional parks, nature reserves, etc.).
EXPLORATION OF A MOUNTAIN HAMLET: this exploration begins with the discovery of the mountain hamlet "Pourchéry" and continues on a trail. The speakers raise students' awareness of mountain life through observation and the use of photos or maps: study of traditional housing, evolution of peasant and economic life in the mountains, transformation of a village into a resort, etc.
