Do you know the Haute Romanche valley? Thanks to the stay organized by the Hôtel le Faranchin, you will set off to discover these mythical places of the Grandes Alpes, very close to large passes and the villages of La Grave and Villar d'Arêne.
You are now ready, shoes on your feet, poles in your hands and bag on your back, to set off to explore the Haute Romanche valley and its villages.
A few minutes from the great Alpine passes such as Lautaret and Galibier, your guide will lead you on the hiking trails, near torrents, mid-altitude lakes, all at the foot of the great peaks.

Like a panorama of unspoiled nature, different hikes every day, a different valley with the backdrop of the Meije and its glaciers.

This stay is level 2 (moderate) and is designed for those looking for an active and contemplative discovery.

>> Day 1: Welcome and Installation
Your room will be ready from 15 p.m.,
Check-in and discovery of the hotel, then aperitif with your guide for the presentation of the stay.

>> Day 2: Tour of Pontet-Aiguillon Lake 2095M
Hiking departure: 9 a.m. (departure on foot from the Hotel)
This short circuit will take us to the lake then by a balcony path towards the summit of the Aiguillon where a magnificent view over the Romanche valley and the summit of the Meije awaits us. The return will take place on the left bank of the Maurian to the small hamlet of Puy Golèfre.

>> Day 3: The Sources of the Romanche 2150M
Hiking departure: 9 a.m. (travel by vehicle to Arsine car park – 3 km).
We will start our day with the glacial lock of the Pas d'Anna Falque in order to reach the Plan de l'Alpe. We will follow this long flat to Valfourche and its view of the glacial cirque of the Tombe Murée.
Picnic on the flat area of ​​the springs or Valfourche.
Elevation gain +/- 450m / 5h of actual walking / total duration of the day: 7h
Themes: Flora, The life of a mountain torrent, the Ecrins National Park and history of national parks, natural and human mountain environment.

>> Day 4: The Emparis plateau and the Lérié and Noir lakes 2450M
Hiking departure: (vehicle travel to the Hameau du Chazelet – 7 km).
A contemplative outing with the discovery of the highest plateau in the Alps... A path through the mountain pastures facing the glaciers of the Meije.

Themes: Flora, life in high-altitude lakes, mountain pasture wars, pastoralism, natural and human mountain environment, panorama.

>> Day 5: In the Kingdom of the Ibex 2350M
Hiking departure: 9:00 a.m. (vehicle travel to Pont de l'Alpe – 14 km).
This day in the heart of the Cerces massif will take us on the trail of an emblematic animal of the Alps.

Elevation gain +/- 550m / 5h00 of actual walking / total duration of the day: 8h
Themes: Flora, life & habits of the ibex, geology of the Cerces massif, natural and human mountain environment, panorama.

>> Day 6: “Alpine” day at the foot of the glaciers. La Brèche Pacave 2836M
Hiking departure: 8:30 a.m. (vehicle travel for La Grave – 2 km). Ascent to the cable cars at 3200M.
An essential discovery in the Land of Meije To discover the Meije and its glaciers. After a cable car ride, we will guide you through a very mineral environment towards the Brèche Pacave, then along the "Vallons de la Meije » to the intermediate cable car station at 2400m. The return will be by cable car from 2400m to La Grave.

Elevation gain + 200 / -800m / 4h of actual walking / total duration of the afternoon: 7h
Themes: Flora, evolution and exploitation of glaciers, history of the Meije and mountaineering in Oisans, natural and human mountain environment, 360° panorama as far as Mont Blanc.

>> Day 7: The end of your trip
After a sporty and emotional week, it will already be time to say goodbye after breakfast.
Little extras while hiking: your guide will provide a hot drink at lunchtime (organic coffee, tea or herbal tea) and a homemade digestif.
